back to blockprinting

I did some linoleum block printing projects in my high school art classes, but haven't had much opportunity since then. this is one of my absolute favorite mediums, i love the process that is involved: designing the relief cuts in reverse, carving the linoleum block, and printing and simultaneously experimenting with color theory.

this is a print of mine from one of my high school art classes:

i still have a couple tubes of ink and a linoleum cutter that i bought that i have been meaning to use, and this weekend i did!

i didn't properly label these with the number of prints i made during this particular printing (this is what one would usually do, as after subsequent printings, sometimes the surface of the relief changes slightly from wear, and so this helps to indicate when the specific print was made) ..the reason i didn't label mine is because i have some ideas for what i would like to do with the prints, and the numbering would distract from the composition/content of the whole piece. or in other words...artistic license for future reference!
i forgot how much i love block printing! it really is fantastic.
