This song appears in the film "Sleepless in Seattle" in a scene when Tom Hanks doesn't really have any answers or solutions. Just a song. Sometimes you just have to make do with what you've got. (also the soundtrack to this movie is really great in general.)

lately I've been feeling quieter.

more thoughtful.

and very thankful.

January was a bit rough. February has proven much nicer. And although it is still snowing a lot and I do not love that it is snowing a lot, occasionally the snow is that magical airy type that allows you to see individual snowflakes.

That's all.

We visited family in upstate New York this weekend, and while we were there it snowed almost 2 feet! I love these lacy snowflakes that landed on the car windows right before we left; they didn't melt right away so we could look at them more closely.

So incredible, right? Snow is amazing.

"Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool." –Isaiah 1:18

I grew up listening to Dan Fogelberg's version of "In the Bleak Midwinter" and recently fell in love with The Lower Light's iteration (also their Christmas CD in general). I love the line "snow was falling softly, snow on snow on snow" and it reminds me of the above verse in Isaiah. I love the many symbols at Christmastime and snow is a beautiful reminder of the Atonement and its cleansing power in our lives. I'm thankful for our Savior and for this beautiful time of year when we celebrate Christ's birth and His life.

• an enthusiastic 3 year old (I love this! I love this bed! I love this cabin! I love this place!)

these make for a wonderful weekend of camping.

Morning is maybe my favorite time of day, even if I do have a hard time getting out of my warm bed when I know it's chilly outside.

Well, don't quite go away—please just turn into snow. A little bit might be nice.

Just another reason to love working at the hbll: one of my coworkers is a master with the paper snowflakes (do you see the snowmen, pine trees, and house?!).
